Frequently Asked Questions

Why does ClipArc need Accessibility permission?

Accessibility permission is required for two features: the global hotkey (Cmd+Shift+V) to open ClipArc from any app, and the smart paste feature that automatically pastes content into your active application.

Is my clipboard data secure?

Yes. All your clipboard data is stored locally on your device using Apple's secure SwiftData framework. No data is ever sent to external servers. See our Privacy Policy for more details.

What's the difference between Free and Pro?

The free version stores up to 5 clipboard items. Pro unlocks unlimited clipboard history (configurable at 50/100/200/500 items), advanced fuzzy search, global hotkey (Cmd+Shift+V), and direct paste functionality.

What content types does ClipArc recognize?

ClipArc automatically detects 10 content types: Text, URL (with page title fetching), Image, Code (all programming languages), Color codes (hex, RGB), Email, Phone numbers, Numbers/currency, JSON, and Files.

How do I clear my clipboard history?

You can delete individual items by hovering over them and clicking the delete button. To clear all history, use the "Clear All" option in the app settings. Uninstalling the app will also remove all data.

Does ClipArc work with images and files?

Yes. ClipArc stores copied images with thumbnails and dimension information. File paths are also tracked, including multiple file selections.

What are the system requirements?

ClipArc requires macOS 14.0 or later. It works on both Apple Silicon and Intel Macs.

What are the paste modes?

ClipArc offers three paste modes: Direct Paste (simulates Cmd+V to paste immediately), Copy to Clipboard (copies content to system clipboard), and Ask Every Time (prompts you to choose). Direct paste requires Accessibility permission.

What is Screenshot Auto-Save?

ClipArc can automatically detect and capture new screenshots from a designated folder. It supports system screenshots and third-party tools like CleanShot, Snagit, and Skitch. Enable this feature in Settings and select your screenshot folder.

What customization options are available?

ClipArc offers many settings: history limit (50/100/200/500 items), appearance (System/Light/Dark), paste mode preference, language, sound notifications, launch at login, show/hide dock icon, and screenshot monitoring folder.

What languages does ClipArc support?

ClipArc supports 13 languages: English, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese (Brazil), Russian, Arabic, and Hindi.

Do I need an account to use ClipArc?

No account is required to use ClipArc. You can optionally sign in with Apple ID to verify your Pro membership across devices. All clipboard data remains stored locally on each device.

What is the Quick Menu?

The Quick Menu is accessible from the menu bar icon and shows your most recent clipboard items for fast access. Free users see 5 items, Pro users see 10 items.
